Fidel Prudente

Fidel Prudente is a returning member of UR POLIS and has taken on the role of Member at Large. Having experienced so much fun and excitement over the past year as a member of the executive council pushed him to keep serving as a member. Getting involved in student activities on campus is something that he believes is essential for a fulfilling university experience.

He chose to take political science because of his family’s involvement long before he was born. Back in the Philippines, he was going to rallies when he was just eight years old! His family has always instilled in him, the value of giving back to the community that has done so much for us. He is also encouraged by the fact that he is a descendant of three mayors who presided over his hometown. He is inspired by their strong legacy of good governance which was the reason why his family is respected to this day. He intends to continue their legacy and enter politics himself, whether it be holding a public office or serving as a staff member for a representative.

After moving to Regina, Fidels' family became closely involved with the local Filipino community. If you come to a Filipino event in Regina, chances are you will see him or a member of his family in attendance. Their main annual event is called RAKRAKAN, a showcase of Filipino and rock music that aims to promote local talents.

Beyond his community involvement, you might see him bike around Wascana Park in the afternoon, or he will be at home watching a movie.

His favourite class is still CLAS 290 AD: Ancient World in Film, which brings two of his favourite subjects; cinema and history. It is a fun class that has introduced him to many great films and he would absolutely recommend it to all students with an interest in history.
