Role: Communications Coordinator
Major: Political Science
Minor: International Studies
Year of Study: 4
Matthew is our Communications Coordinator. It is his second time on the UR POLIS executive, having been re-elected to the role. He is also the President of the University of Regina Model United Nations Club, and a UofR Student Senator.
In his spare time, Matthew is either gaming, staying updated on current events, or writing in forums and social media about his favourite fictional universes.
Matthew has aspired to have a career in federal politics since he was 14 years old. Over the years his passion for global affairs has grown. He finds Political Science riveting, and his studies are preparing him for a potential career in global affairs. Matthew is an enthusiastic student who brings his expertise in International Studies to the table.
When asked what his favourite PAIS course is, he found it tough to pick just one. So far, he says IS 240: Contemporary Issues in International Affairs. His advice for PAIS students: “Get involved on campus. If you're looking to work around government, get to know your University's governance structures first. Don't be intimidated by anyone's title... student, prof, or otherwise. Put yourself out there.”
He loved this year’s Meet Your Representatives event, and is looking forward to more events like it!
