Ella Gidluck is the President of UR POLIS and a fifth-year student majoring in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE). She has completed her Certificate in Nonprofit Sector Leadership and Innovation (NSLI) and is earning a Business Diploma. Ella has previously served as Vice President, Secretary, and Member at Large within UR POLIS.
Her studies reflect a blend of public service and practical leadership. Through her NSLI internship with Regina Food for Learning, Ella gained firsthand experience supporting community programs that provide meals for students in need. She is also part of the JDC West Not-for-Profit academic team, where she applies her passion for strategy and social impact to real-world case work.
Ella appreciates how her PPE courses complement one another, allowing her to approach complex issues with both critical and creative thinking. She also spent a semester studying in Germany and encourages other students to take advantage of international opportunities when they can.
Outside of school, Ella spends time at Madge Lake with her family and friends. She is an advocate for inclusion and accessibility, inspired by her sister who has Down syndrome, and she volunteers with the Saskatchewan Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund.
Her advice for PAIS students: “Get to know your professors. It makes your classes more meaningful, and when life gets messy, they’ll be there to help you through it.”
Ella’s favourite UR POLIS events are Meet Your Representatives and the Grad School Panel because they bring students, alumni, and faculty together in the best way.
